I like to collect baseball autographs and anything related to the Civil War such as books, relics, letters, documents.

I used to collect baseball cards-stopped in the late 80's as there got to be too many sets. Now I collect a few first edition books. And I have a bunch of cigar bands:ss

So, you like the civil war. I enjoy reading about that period. My cousin wrote a book about the young kids in the war. Too Young to Die. He is a huge CW buff-does the re-enactments and all.

I did collect coins for about he last 16 years or so... but recently I have become a bit bored with that hobby and have started selling a bunch of them off... I will probably go back when I get a bit closer to retirement, but for now I just can't justify the cost...

Bet your house smells a whole lot better now ;)

I used to be big into baseball cards, memorabilia, and autographs; kind of collect art and crystal; horde books; collect certain first editions; dabbled in coins; firearms; pipes; wine; decanters; chess sets; nerdy historical stuff; and just lately started collecting ephemera from some of my grandfather's old casinos.

Edit to add: could easily get really into pens and watches, just afraid of the extra resource drain and time commitment--so I'm starting off slowly with these.

Damn addictive personality.

Watches - mostly mechanical automatic Japanese watches, but I have a couple Swiss ones too. Haven't had the funds to buy a new watch in 5 years though.
Cameras - 35mm film cameras from the 30's - 80's, rangefinders and SLRs, mostly a Nikon and Retina ho. Can't swing Leica collecting yet.
Anything related to WWII - History nut and reenactor, so I have a lot of stuff related to this.
My wife might try to claim I collect fishing rods/reels/lures, but I certainly don't think of those things as "collecting". It's just stuff you have to buy to use for what you like to do (kinda like cigars!).

Cameras - 35mm film cameras from the 30's - 80's,

Me, too, but all kinds and from about the turn of the last century. Have about 400. One of the benefits of living in Rochester, NY (home to Eastman Kodak) is that they are everywhere.

Also:

Military bring-back firearms
US stamps 1900-2000
Military uniforms
27th Division memorabilia/militaria

My wife says I collect collections.

Cigar books. Poker chips, I keep a small one from each casino or regular game I play at, not from people's personal sets at home games. I don't have many yet but hopefully will eventually.

Information is another big one. I like knowing things or how to find things out.

Visits to other countries as well when I think about it. I get a big kick out of visiting somewhere new even if it's only for a short time. 12 countries so far, maybe 1 or 2 more after X-mas.

Hmm...if I'm honest, I have to say I'm a chronic collector. Not a hoarder, but certainly a collector.

For the long haul - records, CDs, music memorabilia. As a recovering music journalist, the stuff just rolled in from promo/PR companies and record labels for years. Now, though, I'm definitely discriminating, narrowing down to just a few artists, labels, and genres. Was a completist for New Order, Orb, Aphex Twin, Muslimgauze, and Autechre among others. Now am getting deep into Boris, Sunno:))), and Nadja/Aidan Baker.

More recently - Sheperd Fairey/Obey Giant prints. The original, signed editions.

On and off - watches, pens, vintage audiophile gear.

Movies - DVD/BLU-RAY 685 so far

He-man action figures and sets. Wow, that felt embarassing typing that. I grew up with those things so I guess that's where that comes from. No pics, because they are all sealed in waterproof boxes I made with styrofoam underneath so in case my basement ever floods they will float. :D

I only pull these out once a year at Christmas, so I forgot to mention that I also collect Fontanini Nativity Scene figurines like these

http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii88/kaisersozei/fontanini_set.jpg

They're like Catholic action figures, I guess. :D I pick up a few pieces every year, probably have over 100 now. I also built some landscape dioramas (think model train stuff) to display them and add to that each year, too. Must have got my inspiration from my folks--when I was growing up they had a cool ceramic Nativity scene they bought in Italy. Only a few pieces in the creche, but it was probably my favorite Christmas "decoration." Just keeping the tradition alive for my own kids, who love to tinker with mine...

Firearms -- my favorite, Books, Military memorabilia. I don't have much on the Military side of things, but that will change over time. My prize possession right now is an authentic WWI era "Knuckle-Duster" in mint condition. It is beautiful. It's really cool seeing the other items fellow members collect. I really like the idea of collecting experiences. I've been thinking a lot lately that we need to try to travel as much as possible in our lives. There's a whole world out here we haven't seen. We should remedy that.

I only collect a few things; cigars, liquor, small collection of firearms, new and vintage tshirts since starting my screen printing business. Nothing super interesting, but fun for me.
