Ah, this seems a good place to put the reminder. First Monday night game, 09/14/09, Chargers @ Raiders. Three CC. You've got the Raiders and six.
Did I tell you about this site (http://www.chargertom.com/RaiderHaters.html) yet??

Camp starts next week so getting the itch for some football!
For the Raiders this year:
The end of JaMarcus Russell (I don't know he may have been their best left tackle on the field ......)
4 QBs in Camp: Jason Campbell, Kyle Boller, Bruce Gradkowski & Charlie Frye
Signed Richard Seymour and Janikowski
Picked up: Rock Cartwright, Michael Bennett, Quentin Groves
Looks like most of the moves in the off season where to pickup linemen, line backers and a quarterback.
Cut turnovers this year and the silver and black may be on the path to a winning season.
Checkin In.

First preseason game against the Cowboys and it looks like Boller cleaned up against some 3rd and 4th string guys who won't be playing in the regular season. Cambell's numbers looked a little suspect against the first string. The rest of the preseason will be interesting to see whether the team comes together or stays where they currently are.
But for today they are 1-0!
Nice 4th quarter comeback. Fun to watch. I only caught the 4th quarter though. I am recording it today to watch the beginning.
Boller did look pretty good against the 3rd stringers.
The D did a great job too.

I only caught the 4th too. I liked that they held at the end and got some defensive points to close it. Boller did look pretty good. :tu

Preseason game #2: Another win and a bit of brighter potential.
Offense may still be a question mark when the season hits. We could really use a veteran possession receiver but hopefully the running game will help the line and the passing game enough.
Defense looks like it will be there.

Damn it, I should have started McFadden in my fantasy league, I thought he was still out so I played M.Bush instead.
Thats what I'm talkin about. That game was so good, I already watched it twice.
Sweet win! I hope this gives Campbell some confidence if Gradkowski cant come back soon.
Killer running game too. Nice to see them spread the ball to multiple RB's. Denvers O-line had holes like Swiss Cheese.

Right now it is hard to justify pulling him when you have 3 straight wins ... give him Murphy and Miller back and he may be putting up the numbers again.

Is McFadden the BOMB or what. Man I love watching that guy. I would still like to see Campbell get more accurate especialy on Long Bombs down field. The second string receivers have played well though, making some great catches in double coverage. Also now that Boss is back and healthy, it would be nice to see that big boy go across the middle for some nice 10 yard pick ups.

Pryor will have two weeks to warm up at least in the case of emergencies. That's including the Bye week after KC.
Cross your fingers on this roller coaster boys
Hope we can get something going in the Passing Game. Campbell has been scary at best. We are pretty decently stacked otherwise. Good defense (way to shut down the run against Cleveland) and in the QB's face all day.
Good running game with a strong O-Line. Good special teams. Al would be proud!
Get us a good QB going and will be hard to beat.

When I heard Carson was going to the Raiders I immediately knew your boys were going to the playoffs, the division is a cinch. If he fits, there's no reason they couldn't get to the Super Bowl (provided the Steelers die in a plane crash or something).
This is a big deal for Carson and the Raiders both. You guys are real fortunate, you scored BIG. :tu

The way the division shakes down, the Raiders have a good shot at winning it and making the playoffs. Throwing that away to get a look at Pryor wouldn't be the way I would want the team to go. As much as everyone could be down on the Palmer deal, it will be interesting to see if he is successful. I think he will be. Despite playing ball in what was arguably the most asshole-ridden franchise in the NFL for the best part of his tenure, he stuck it out knowing it was a go-nowhere proposition in a club that cares nothing of success, driven by management that wouldn't know a winning move if it bit them on the ass.
The Raiders have the line and wideouts to let his ability shine, if there's something left. Iirc, Oakland's offensive coordinator was in Cinnci around 06, so Carson should be able to slide in with little adjustment.
Plus he's still far better than Kyle Boller even if they need to push him around in a wheelbarrow.

The last couple of seasons in Nati, Carson Palmer got skittish. Not David Carr skittish, but he got some happy feet back there. I'd be more worried about that than his elbow and shoulder issues. Put those two together and he's a busted quarterback IMO.

Sorry, you fellas definately got the short end of the stick with Palmer..we are glad to be rid of him.
Also, the quandry they are going to be put in with Palmer, Pryor, Boller and Campbell will be interesting to see who is the odd man out. :hm
X2
As I mentioned before, Campbel was decent at best but still looked better than Boller.
Even w/ the short amount of time to learn the playbook, I think Palmer (being a veteran) will adapt better / faster than either of the other two.
Running game, Special teams, defense, offensive line all looking good. The addition of a good quarterback will only help.

An offensive line, offensive coordinator who doesn't run the most predictable offense in the NFL, head coach who has the respect of his team, receivers who run the correct routes and won't be forced to throw to, a running game, front office that will spend money, diehard (not fair-weather) fans, and the chance to win a division title with a team and not by himself. We have the pregame warmup today at work as we work in our Home Safety Meeting on outdoor cooking/tailgating at the office here in KC this afternoon.

Carson is going to think he's in heaven, for sure. It's hard for me to think of the Raiders organization as heaven because much like the rest of the world, I hate them. :r
I'm just a big fan of Carson and feel bad that his talent was wsted on such a suck organization all these years.
Just Wednesday Rotowire was reporting that Palmer would be playing Sunday. Today I got a text that says he's not playing. I'd wouldn't be real surprised if that doesn't change again come Sunday.
They're playing KC, for crying out loud. They shouldn't need much of a quarterback to get that job done. :tu
I'd really like to see that game if Carson plays. Between him and Jackie Battle breaking out for KC, it could be a classic short-field, running game, grind-it-out, kinda contest. That'd be a cool change of pace.

Wasnt expecting much from Boller, he has not showed much since he has been w/ the Raiders.
What can you expect from Palmer w/ 3-4 days of practice and only 10% of the reps on those days.
Top 1-2 running back in the league out in the first quarter.
Tight End Boss out w/ concussion.
Jannokowski out w./ hammi (not that we got close enough to kick one, lol).

I understand your bitterness and hatred for Mike Brown..I get that..maybe not from an NFL players perspective..but I get it. Now Palmers failure had nothing to do with Mike Brown. Brown threw truck loads of money at the guy and Palmer just could not deliver (after the injury)...he throws the ball perfectly into the opposings teams hands (3 interceptions with the Raiders first game)..otherwise the ball is either overthrown, over the recievers head, or in the dirt. I am glad he is gone (no I don't want him to fail) as it is fun to watch Dalton with the Bengals.

Carson was working out with his recievers during the Bye Week in an effort to become more familiar with them. Also, I am sure he spent plenty of time in he film room and playbook to learn the system :tu
New practice rules are a max of one padded practice a week and none after a certain week (10?) . Teams also must give players 4 consecutive days off during the bye week, including a full weekend. :tu

Big game coming up today! I think the game will be decided by less than seven but with Raiders winning. If we had our offensive pieces in place (DMC, TJones, Ford, & Moore) we would be unstoppable. Yet this is the NFL and all teams deal with injuries.

Very weak performance from all areas of the entire team! Also back to "way to many penalties". Stupid actions from a veteran like Seymore, getting ejected mid way thru for throwing a punch. Poor game plan for that game. Reese was doninant in last weeks game. This week they didnt even call his number until the last 5 minutes of the game and he made 2 huge plays??
Plamer was spot-on the first half, his receivers just kept dropping everything!! After that he got a little frazzled and started throwing behind receivers.
Gotta give it to the Miami Defense. They came prepared and shut down our run completely and defended the backfield well.
Overall performance:
Offensive line = Weak
Receivers = Weak
Defense = Weak
Special Teams = Weak

So 8-8 not bad but not great. Looking back there are games they should have won and let go - Buffalo, Detroit and Denver ... it would have been nice to make the playoffs but this team was not all there this year.
Biggest disappointment of the season goes to McFadden. Great player but he has to actually play a season to be valuable to the team. We could have used him. Bush is good but McFadden can change a game.
Off season moves: I am guessing they will trade Campbell, I would like to see them shop for a pair of corners and trade McFadden.
Surprise of the season Heyward-Bey - only took 3 years but he is performing well and catching the ball :) Moore was also a great introduction and one of Palmer's favorite targets.
Palmer was a wash for the season but really it was hard to say he could walk into a team in the middle of the season without playing the first half of the season at all and do great.
Maybe next year ...

Man, I think we should have just took the ass kicking last year and tried to get a better QB in the draft rather than wasting our draft picks on an old has been QB.
Palmer isn't our man, I can tell you that.
It seems like we are just sloppy overall as a team. We have some good players but something is missing and I'm not sure what it is.
I think we need to start looking at Geno Smith or Matt Barkley to step in for palmer.
It seems to me that we haven't really done squat with our draft picks here as of late.
I wish that when AL died, the foundation would have gone out of the family.
I truly think his son is going to run this team into the ground even more than it already is.

Coaching................which goes back to me hating the fact that AL's son took over the team.
You know what the first thing he did was when he took over?
Fired ALL of the coaching staff that his old man had hired.
There is an article out there somewhere telling about the incident that led to him doing that.
The guy knows jack squat about football. He was just there because daddy was supporting him and he knew he would inherit it all someday.

I hear ya on this one (except for Pryor, he is still so green). I can see where Reggie was coming from, wanting to hire his own coaching staff...however Jacksons staff was starting to go somewhere....well except for the horrible penalty count. At least thats one thing we have much better control over this season. I think Allen is holding them much more accountable for penalties. In either the 1st or 2nd game I saw Kelly commit 2 penalties, 2 plays in a row. Coach had him sit out for the next 1/2 dozen or so series.

Nice to see the penalties in-check. 2 for 20 yards.
I'm glad the coach stuck w/ the running game for the entire game. McFadden really busted some good ones in the 2nd half. These guys really need to get a better blocking scheme going for McFadden. The zone blocking is not quite doing it right now (even though he got over a 100 yards it was late in the game when the Cheifs were already beat down and lets face it, they are'nt 1-6 because they can shut down the run, right

In this village, a little boy is given a gift of a horse. The villagers all say, "Isn’t that fabulous? Isn’t that wonderful? What a wonderful gift."
The Zen master says, "We’ll see."
A couple years later the boy falls off the horse and breaks his leg. The villagers all say, "Isn’t that terrible? The horse is cursed! That’s horrible!"
The Zen master says, "We’ll see."
A few years later the country goes to war and the government conscripts all the males into the army, but the boy’s leg is so screwed up, he doesn’t have to go. The villagers all say, "Isn’t that fabulous? Isn’t that wonderful?"
The Zen master says, "We’ll see."

My fav picture, you gotta admit scumdiego has hot cheerleaders. Friends company had an event there for the Raiders game and I ended up talking to those chicks for like 15 minutes, they were signing calendars, the guy behind me was *****ing because they were talking so much time talking to me and the blonde says, "He bought 10 calendars so we are talking to him, are you buying a calendar?" (for the record I didn't buy any calendar) haha

Hall of Fame talk running around, how is Plunk not in the hall, the only QB with 2 or more SuperBowl wins NOT in the hall, how about Ray Guy, the best punter get's the Ray Guy Trophy, yet Ray isn't in the hall ... asses.

Raiders looking good up and down the likes, Pryor looking good, I wonder if they told him NOT to run on a couple of those plays because he had a lot of green in front of him but threw instead.
Running game, TEs, Butler all looking good.
"Reggie Smith played for San Fran a couple years ago, was out of football last year and is looking to make this team." In the old days talking about the Raiders "out of football last year" usually meant the player was doing time in jail for something. LOL

I don't know that I am going to start getting my hopes up over the game on Friday, but it's a new season and here's to hoping that McFadden can play over half the games this year ....
Glad to see they changed up the blocking to a Power Run sceme for McFadden.
Prior looked very good, although maybe that was just because he played the 2nd line guys from Dallas and Flyn had to go up against the 1st stringers? Pryor did look better though. The 3rd string guy looked good too, McGloin?
Once again though, the Special teams on Kick offs and Punts looked horrible. I think Dallas started on the 30 (minimum) after just about every kick.
Liked the look of the "D" too. Welcome back Woodson!

The only thing about T.P. was on those two plays when he had nothing but 20 yards of green in front of him and he made bad passes both times, I was hoping they told him not to run ... but turns out he said he wanted to prove his passing has improved... DOH!
We aren't paying you to be manning we are paying you to be mike vick or rgIII ... RUN god damn it! LOL

Ray Guy gets the nod from the senior committee, bout fricken time.
We may be on the cusp of football history.
A punter may be on his way to election into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
On Wednesday, it was announced that former Oakland punter Ray Guy is one of two senior committee nominees, along with Claude Humphrey. Usually, the two senior committee nominees are elected. The next election will be in February.
It would a watershed moment if Guy -- widely considered the best punter ever to live -- gets elected. There has never been a punter-only player elected into the Hall of Fame.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Guy gets some opposition in the voting process. There is a faction of voters who don’t believe punters should be in the hall of fame. Still, that fact that Guy made it this far is a good sign.
I have never gotten the argument that punters don’t belong in the Hall of Fame. Here’s my point: Try playing the game without punters. Thus, the greatest punter of all time deserves recognition.
Guy, Oakland’s first-round draft pick in 1973, recently expressed his angst over not being enshrined. Guy was a vital part of the 1970s hey-day Raiders. He was a supreme weapon. Guy, 62, averaged 42.4 yards per punt over his 14-year career.
Guy is an inspiration to most punters, and his election would give hope to all future punters. It would clearly please new Oakland punter Chris Kluwe. He was fined by the NFL last year while with Minnesota when he campaigned for Guy to make the Canton, Ohio, museum with a message on his uniform.
Perhaps the message has finally been heard.
Ray Guy gets the nod from the senior committee, bout fricken time.

Looks like Pryor is going to be the starting QB and he keeps up what he's been doing in preseason that's fine with me, he's def winning the job. Flynn is the suck.

Announced today Pryor will start Thursday against Seattle, Flynn has tendonitis (same as he had last season when he lost his starting job with Seahawks)
Pryor at least would add some excitement, he let them to what 20 points in one quarter after Flynn **** the bed against the Bears.

Trust me we all have our fingers crossed too. :r
I give Pryor the nod too. He looks alot better than last year and he looks ALOT better that Flynn. Hopefully they can get this new blocking scheme going for McFadden. The Run has looked pretty weak so far, well except for Pryor

I think I am going to take the under on McFadden playing 6 games this year ... I am still thinking it would have been better to trade him away this year to make cap room while he still has some perceived value.

Question: Are you guys happy with what the new management is doing and the steps they are taking to build this team?
That's exactly what they are doing...rebuilding this team. I believe they said that 60 of the 90 players were new this year. Talk about a rebuild. Yes, I think thats the right thing to do. Reggie wants to start form the ground up. We had alot of stagnate, money makers who were not performing but picking up a big check. Cut em loose and let them get a fresh start somewhere else. Get some young blood over here, guys that WANT to play. Hopefully McFadden can stay healthy and produce what we know he is capable of.

60/90 is a lot, and I know they dug themselves into a hole with CAP and draft picks but hopefully it truly is rebuilding and not this as I fear
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/06/02/raiders-fire-p-r-director-mark-davis-squanders-benefit-of-the-doubt/
That's the media for ya. Mark Davis said, live on T.V. after his father died, that his first order if business was going to be to Hire a G.M. He addmitted that he wanted to get someone there that knows alot more than he does about running a football team. That is exactly what he did. I'm quite sure that Al was not much for "sharing" his thoughts on running the business (team) with his son. in fact Al made it pretty clear that he did not share much about the team with Mark at all.
Let Reggie do his job for a while. Lets see what he can do over the next few years. Cuz thats what it's gonna take...years possibly.

I was pleasantly surprised that we were still in the game in the 4th quarter. Looks like we have a long way to go though.
With 26 new players on the roster and this being Pryors 2nd ever start, I was impressed. The O line and the Defensive secondary has a long way to go.
A missed 43 yard field goal (c'mon Jano) and 2 interceptions were are main downfalls.

Matt Flynn makes JaMeatloaf Russell look like a healthy Cam Newton.
Shows you what 6,000,000 bucks gets you, a QB that sits in the pocket for 6 seconds and STILL gets sacked.
Yup. Thats why Pryor was a good pick for Starting QB. Cuz our O-line is pretty weak rigth now. We needed a guy that can make plays with his legs not stand there and get crushed.
I keep telling everyone, no - no McFadden is the man, he is healthy, this is gonna be his year.... Out in the 1st quarter with a Hammi. Bogus. Then Reese goes down in the 1st quarter also...weak.
That coulda, shoulda woulda been a win for us but we just cant stay healthy.
Whats the deal w/ Janakowski this year? He's 5 for 8.

McFumbles, McInjuryProne, McHammy, McUseless ... take your pic, the guy just either isn't durable or as soon as he has an owwie he's done for 1/2 a season, there's no way they sign him next year. I doubt we could get anything for him now, I'd sign him to the vet minimum next year and make him a slot receiver or something, never should have let Bush go. :(
never should have let Bush go. :(
Agreed.
I really am wishing we would have traded McFadden for something in the off season ...
I'm starting to think along those lines too.

Perry there are actually backup QBs in the NFL that make MORE than that, well one anyway... just ask the Cowboys, granted now ours is 4th on a 3 man depth chart. They have ME penciled in right above Flynn:
1. Pryor
2. McGloin
3. Fat Jewish Guy
4. Flynn
