View Full Version : Discontinued Cigars thread??

How about a thread that might inform the Inmates in the Asylum of cigars that are being or are about to be discontinued ?
OR
Start a discussion of the "word on the street" kind of news about certain cigars production coming to a end.
What made me think of this is I was just looking around on Famous and noticed in their Discontinued Closeouts page that the Hoyo De Monterrey Dark Sumatra are now listed there. One of my Favs.
A couple more examples I noticed 2 -3 months ago several on-line sellers were no longer showing Maria Guerrero in stock. Another nice smoke I hate to see go. And the RP Edge Sumatra are no longer available.
So if you hear of a brand or line that is ending let us know. It might be someones favorite and they could use the info to stock up before they disappear.

Oh God....where do I begin? :r
Davidoff Special 53
Davidoff Diademas Finas
Davidoff 100th Anniversary Robusto
Avo LE 05
Avo LE 07
I think those are the saddest discontinuations for me (well, not so much "discontinuations" as they were a one-time, limited-release cigar, never to be made again :().
You can still find some of the 100th Anniversary Robustos here and there but they are dwindling fast. So, if you want any more, start working your way through the Yellow Pages...

Not quite on topic but two brands I haven't seen in ten years that I miss:
Mi Cubano (Nic.)
Canaria D'Oro (not just the roth mads you can find, but the entire line)
Good thread though.
JR online sells Marias!!! I think you get some free smokes w/ a box too.

Cifuentes - the old blend (1980s-90s). On the milder side, but there was buttery texture and flavor to the smoke, with nuts. Wonderful.

RP Edge Sumatra
What a tasty treat!

Its my understanding that the RP edge sumatra has been replaced by the decade a superior smoke in all regards.
One for me I miss are the big ring sets from rolando Reyes. True they were yard gars. But nice well made yard gars that because of the big gauge stayed very cool. He had 6x60 in the double maduro, pirates gold, cienfuentes, viejo, and reserva maxima. All of which are not so good in the smaller gauges. Nice pick ups usually for a buck and a half a piece or so.

I really miss the La Gloria Cubanas made in Miami when they were only made in Miami. There was no space in the little El Credito shop to store and further age tobacco when it came in. The cigars were rolled up quickly to make room for more tobacco. They had such a fresh and raw taste to them.
I was talking to an old guy in Florida way back when and he had a great line that described them perfectly. He said "You can hide these under your bed and six months later they still taste raw."
I know that they still make 'em in Miami, but they're made with tobacco that has been stored and aged at the factory in the DR. I still try to buy the cigars made in Miami, more for "old times sake" than anything else.
I'm thrilled that Ernie and his family are leaving LGC and starting a small cigar company. I pray that the old raw taste will return.:wo

Andy, check CI's site. They are listed as available on there and Scott, the ESV '91 is listed there as being available also. Andy also if you check the discontinued food thread, I found you a source for booberry cereal.

I have ONE of these left from my wedding 7 years ago. I purchased 2 boxes and had them available at the open bar. I'm saving it for my 10th anniversary. I'd save it for my 25th but I'll really be pushing it (54yo now).

When I said ONE, I meant one cigar, not a box.
