Have to counter Ryan's Yankees thread with a thread about the lovable losers...the Chicago Cubs.

Here's a place for us to cheer, gripe, and probably cry in our beer in September...

No Bartman's allowed!:D

Went to Reds games as a kid. But thanks to WGN, watched as many Cubs games as I could growing up. Atteneded my first game at Wrigley when i was in 7th grade...1980ish.

Go Cubbies!!

Looks like Saturday's game will be on CSN-Chicago. had to reduce my satellite package, so not sure if it will be on WGN. Maybe someone who has a little more cash can answer...:r

I would love to go to a crosstown game, but I always seem to be short in the $$ department. Whether at Wrigley or Comiskey, I mean US Cellular. Couple of years ago, my company treated us to the all you can eat/see a game day there. Very nice.

Getting cheep (relatively) tickets is hard but not impossible. Going with stub hub is going to be expensive but. The trick is to know well in advance of when you are going. Also the team you are playing is going to be a huge factor. St.Louis is always going to be a hard ticket to find, and if the Brewers are good tickets are hard to find as well. The best way to get tickets is to check the cubs website often because they will release additional tickets periodically. I got tickets last year for $28 in-field reserve, two days before the game, there were none available for the entire two months before the game. Craigslist is also a good place to get tickets day of game. If you don’t care about the first inning or two, go to the scalpers after the first inning, They can be jerks and you should have a good idea of the layout of the stadium because they will sell you obstructed view. And it can suck to have a giant I-beam between your legs for 9 innings. If you can find 10 other people that want to go the rooftops across the street are a pretty good deal. I am paying 141.00 for all you can eat/drink and a good view of the field inter-league game on a Sunday in June.

Predictions for 2nd half for the cubs Tom and Sean?

I think the sox can make it if there pen and hitting stays decent.

Well, we are only 3.5 games out. Bats were coming alive before the break, and pitching is holding in there. I like our chances of winning the division.

The Sox just needed to get the bats going. It was a rough dry spell for you guys there.

We're both lucky that the Centrals are both still competitive.

Exactly, I think that both teams will be in the hunt come late september if not winning their divisions. By the way, the sox have NEVER been to a post season 2 years in a row:r So the odds are not in my favor....

I really am a rude guy by your standards then Tom:r

You? Not so much, but at least one other Sox fan got under my skin a bit. :r

I think the NL Central is a crapshoot....if Milwaukee makes another trade deadling move like last year (C.C.), they could be a big factor. The Cards can always be a factor, and Houston and Cinci are keeping it close too.

I like the Cubs pitching, so I think the bats dictate whether they make a run at the division or wild card.....Milton needs to get hot, Aramis needs to get hot, D. Lee needs to stay hot, and Fukidome can't just crap his pants again. That's a lot of "ifs", so I think this one is too crazy to call.

The Sox? Not sure they can keep up with Detroit, but they have the tools..... if they can just put it all together, they have a shot.

What about Fonzi? I say trade his sorry ass. Or just sit him out until he gives the cubs something more than a AA player. Same with Milton. Those two players get under my skin. They just didn't give the cubs anything this first half.

Milton was brutal....I am happy they took Fonzi out of the lead off spot, but if Fuki does his July/August nose-dive again, we are no better off.

BJ Ryan would help in the bullpen. I think they are going after him. He is really good. And a lefty to help Sean Marsh.

They are talking about putting Marshall back in the rotation if they get Ryan (assuming to take the place of Dempster's wookie toe). :)

So what's the skinny on this talk of the Tribune selling your Cubbies? I heard 900 million and they can be yours, for sure. Hell, I'll pitch in 5 bucks myself!

That's the ticket price....If I only had an extra 899,999,500, they would already be working for me. :)

A sweep against the lowly Nationals would be good.
