Looks as though my family will be headed up to Chicago the weekend of July 4th to visit friends in Roscoe (~70 miles west of Chi-town?). Our plan was to head up and spend Thurs evening through Sunday morning with them and then head to Chicago for some stuff to do with the wife and kids(who will be 6, 4, and 2 at the time). We'll probably stay in Chicago and get a room on priceline and have Sunday-Wednesday in town before coming home.

I came across this and it seems like a great deal. http://www.citypass.com/city/chicago.html My initial desire was to hit the Field Museum and Museum of Science and Industry as it was, so that accounts for Sunday/Monday. On Tuesday, we'd probably hit the Shedd Aquarium and Planetarium.

On Wednesday, it's an early afternoon baseball game at Wrigley (haven't been in over 25 years I bet) with free tix as the Braves are in town Monday-Wednesday that week.

Anything else you'd recommend over anything I've suggested above? I don't want to waste my time with the planetarium if you think it's too old for them to really understand anything from it.

If you like Italian food, real Italian, then check out The Italian Village. There are three separate places to eat, but check out the Village. Its out of this world:tu

Trust me, I'm of the wrong ideology to ever become governor of Illinois. :r

Couldn't be worse than the last three! :r

The Shedd and the Adler are wonderful. Wrigley is the best non-cigar summer party around.

If you want to sample Chicago-style pizza, I would suggest Giordanos.

If you have time for a smoke, look up Eric at Jack Schwartz.....tell him the hog sent you.

If you are in town between June 29th and July 5th, the Taste of Chicago is a must.

Only been to Chitown once and we went to the Billygoat. If you ever want a beer at 9 am it is the place to go. Although with the kids there it probably won't happen.

I would recommend going to Navy Pier and taking the Sea Dog. It is a speed boat sightseeing tour. Cool for the kids and you get to see the city from the water.
