View Full Version : I wish Palio's didn't Look so Cheap

Seriously though, the thing cut's great but damn it looks and feels cheap. I wonder why they cant make a all stainless or something. I would love to have this blade in a nice heavy frame. What do you guys think about their look?

I personally think they look good, and the weight is something I like. I had a stainless Xikar and it was too heavy in my pocket for daily carry

The manufacturer stands behind them and will fix or replace it free. The owner happens to be a member here.

I find it curious your first two posts here are to rip on Palio. Smells of an agenda to me.....apologies if I am wrong.

I think you can take these to any retailer that sells them and exchange with no questions asked. at least that's what I heard. Mine has cut hundreds of sticks and is still as sharp as the first.

I love my Palios I have used them exclusively for over a year and converted many BOTL's as well as run two group buys for them. I like them so much I accidently gave my last on away to a guy I was herfing with that really liked it after he tried it. Lucky for me a great BOTL hooked me up with a new one. I have cut probably 1000 cigars with Palio and never had a single problem or bad cut.

But what the hell do I know I am just a dumbass Canadian :cb

I have a stainless cutter manufactured by a name brand outfit that's junk. Pure, simple junk. But it looks great, it's nice and hefty, and the name alone (starts with a "C") is guaranteed to impress people. Really sexy.

I'll trade you for a Palio! Seriously. :ss

Well your wrong about your conspiracy theory :r. I don't care for Xikar's either. I just wish their were more than 2 cutters that are very good for under 50$. I just want something different.

I have 2 Palio's. Don't care for them myself. There does seem to be a learning curve to using them correctly. I had a Cuban Crafter perfection cutter and still find myself reaching for that one first.

Palio is a really good cutter a lot of B/SOTL reach for them first.

Like what you use, use what you like.

Just my :2 worth.

Send an email to Marc Aubb at Palio. If its broken, he will get it taken care of. I have 3 Palios, a Zino, Cuban Crafter, 2 Xikars. Palio works the best for me, everytime. Just like cigars, different cutters for different folks. Use what you like! I noticed you posted this on another board also.

As for cleaning the Palio, use some alcohol on the tracks to clean it.

Are you concerned with peoples opinons on your cutter's looks, or the functionality? If youre worried about guys at your B&M noticing the flashy cutter in your hand, then a Palio isnt for you.

As far as looks go, Palio doesnt really impress me, but I didnt buy it for looks. The cut is absolutely the best from any cutter Ive ever used.

I'd been thinking about getting a Palio for a while. I noticed that the B&M where we herfed over the weekend was a dealer, so I picked one up there. I also couldn't help noticing that many of the B&M regulars, as well as several of the guys I herfed with, were all using Palios.

I don't like the new Palios. In fact, mine broke the other day (came apart, blade went flying) and I threw it in the trash. Yeah, I could have fixed it myself or sent it for repair, but why would I want another? I didn't think much of the cut from this one either, it was rarely perfect. Not a big fan of Xikars either, but at least those look cool and are made of metal.

Just fishing for information from different sources in different ways. I want to make sure I purchase something that is really that good. My post on this forum was no more than an agenda to see if anyone here had those problems I mentioned in my OP. I love the cut and will not use any but a Palio. On the other hand I also hate the way it sticks and then lets loose coming off the tracks. I hate to loan it to others because they always pull it apart. As I understand it, this is the "norm"....

And make sure you take advantage of some of the benefits of being a Palio owner. With a Palio in your pocket, you can walk on water. You can fly. You can leap tall buildings with a single bound. And best of all, you can light cigars with your laser vision.

Well, you know its not actually made of carbon fiber, right? No, no I lied. It is made with genuine aircraft grade carbon fiber woven by Ninjas on full moons.

And make sure you take advantage of some of the benefits of being a Palio owner. With a Palio in your pocket, you can walk on water. You can fly. You can leap tall buildings with a single bound. And best of all, you can light cigars with your laser vision.

Really? I need to get me a palio, I just wish the one I have, never had, made up, wasn't so cheap but with all these benefits, I think I'll buy one, or do I own one, who knows.:D

Sean,

If you send it to me, I'll exchange for you!

Although it doesn't happen often, you may have just had one that wasn't up to snuff.

They really do have the best cut, I've been using the first one I ever bought like 7-8 years ago as my "go to" cutter and it's as sweet as ever.

Moe - you'll have to forgive Matt (stig), when the good lord was handing out looks and brains to our family, Matt was off somewhere banging away on his drums. ;)

I have 2 Palio's. Don't care for them myself. There does seem to be a learning curve to using them correctly.

If it wasn't Monday I wouldn't ask but I have to.

WTF are you talking about? :hm

(Remember Kevin it's Monday and I'm a wee bit cranky on Mondays :D)

A learning curve? I can see you must of had an issue with getting up to speed with a Palio as well. :r

Well, I don't know about you, but I put down cold hard cash at my local community college for a weekend seminar titled, "how to clip your stick and not mangle your thingie". Worth every penny. :tu

I've found this works quite well, but does tend to tar up the cutter. I have some Don Kiki brown labels that get tarred up pretty good about half way into them. I quick 2nd clip with the cutter, clears it right up.

Naps allow your cigars to breath and adjust to the proper cutting temperature

Cutting tempature is especially important when using a Palio cutter, found that info on page 18 of the owners manual:D

ok while were talking palios anyone else rest their finger on the cap while they make the cut? Seems I always get strange looks when I do it but I haven't been cut or made a bad cut yet. This is even more fun while driving!

I do that also, beats having the cap fly off in your lap.

I love the cut and will not use any but a Palio. On the other hand I also hate the way it sticks and then lets loose coming off the tracks. I hate to loan it to others because they always pull it apart. As I understand it, this is the "norm"....

Only time I ever used one, it was a BOTLs and it flew apart in my hands.
I freaked out, but he told me it happens all the time, re-assembled it and
told me'honestly, no worries, dude" For what any of that is worth.

"All we are saying is give cake a chance"

MCS

I read this entire thread in it's entirety an i felt compelled to come back to this post by MCS and give my contribution towards this gem of a thread.

MCS,

I truly feel that everybody should give cake a chance. Now i know that you (viewers out there) are thinking... "This guy must have a sweet tooth"... WRONG!

I hate seafood and i'm not a big fan of sweets... But i love cake, all types of cake and i couldn't put my finger on it until now.

I like the rich flavor of any type of frosting, and the fluffy yet thick consistency of it spread about the exterior of a nice light fluffy moist interior that is just begging to be devoured.

That being said..... I AM NOT a fan of pie. I believe we should thank cake for being so dry yet moist and delicious and simultaneously give our "fare-thee-wells" to pie.

Pie is disgusting. It tastes like soupy imitation cake with tart fruits (for the most part).

What is a Palio?

Coconut creme, banana creme, pecan, lemon meringue, apple, pumpkin pies, just to name a few.
And don't get me started on cookies...
