This is the second time ever, and this time it was a full blast in the face from about a foot away... the whole house reeks, we are waiting for the skunk treatment to dry so we can rinse the stink off!! My hands stink... I need to go be sick now... :pu

I know your pain Jeff. I used to have a darn family of those creatures that lived under my shed. At the time we had a Cocker Spaniel, Clyde, who was so kind all he wanted to do was "play" with them. Well they don't play nice at all! I remember just pulling into the subdivision and smelling it knowing Clyde had been "playing" again. Hydrogen peroxide worked the best for him.

That sucks! I've never had the pleasure of trying to clean up a mess like that, but I can't stand to smell them when they get hit on the road. I couldn't imagine how bad it is close up and personal.

Sounds like a lot of air freshener and dog washes are in store for your day :bh

Skunk Off is da bomb, spray it on, wipe it off, works like a charm,

Yeah, this is what we use, unfortunately it doesn't seem to work on people the way they say it should. I have officially scrubbed the skin from my hands and own a 50% share in Febreeze...

I thought I saw the stock of Febreeze going up today. Sorry to hear about your smelly ordeal.

Sorry to hear that. Anytime I smell a skunk in the yard, the dog stays inside.

For your hands, get the old tomato juice out and wash with that Jeff.

This is going to sound strange, but douche mix took a straight shot off the dog.

And this was after trying everything, including the expensive stuff the vet gave us.

That had me spraying beer across my desk, thanks :)

I've been hit indirectly and directly multiple times, and I never thought the smell was that bad...it's just annoying how it lingers. Usually the clothes are done for, and it takes a few days to fully remove the smell, but olfactory fatigue will set in and you won't notice it yourself (other people will though!)

I'd just spray paint a white stripe down his back and turn him free into the wild. He'll never know the difference.

It works.
We use lemons and vinegar and dish soap.
I don't think there's a single one-shot way to get rid of the stink.

Lemon, dishwashing soap, lemon and then another wash with dishwashing soap takes it off my hands so I can't smell it any more. At least near my face. :D

Try a little dilute Hydrogen Peroxide solution -- keep it away from any eyes:tu

That really sucks Jeff. I'm glad there are no skunks in Newfoundland, at least on the island part.

Well, the dog still smells, but not near as bad. The garage reeks though!! I am used to it now though...

What ever made you think of a douche Rev!!!
