I have to thank Bengalman for sending me out a sneak peek at this smoke.
Thanks Ian!

So first the bad stuff. The stick arrived in perfect shape but after a 5 day nap in my humidor the foot had split about an inch. Upon clipping the head split about 1/2 inch. I'm not sure why, the humidor that I stored this in has more than enough beads and is always rock steady at 65%.

The Oliva Connecticut is a really attractive cigar. It's a nice golden color with light veins and an oily sheen in the daylight.
The stick fired right up and the burn was very even right from the get go.

It gives a bit of a spiciness that tip toes on top of the creamy smoke that coats the mouth. During the first third the spice and leathery cream plays a bit of a tug of war for your attention. It seems to be burning a bit on the quick side but the burn line is even and the ash holds tight. It burned right thought the cracked foot without issue and the head was fixed with a bit of slobber. Its been a non-issue.

The spice seems to have backed off or mellowed out rolling into the second third and has really smoothed out. The leather seems a bit more pronounced along with the creamy smoke. It's easy to blow smoke rings and smooth through the sinuses.

Just before the band the spice if finding its way back in. The smoke is picking up in body and still very smooth. I'm smoking this in the afternoon but can see where this would be an outstanding cigar to enjoy with coffee.

Liked it: Yes
Buy it again?: I'll be looking to pick up some fivers for Saturday mornings with coffee. Probably not a box but only because I tend to like my smokes a bit more full bodied
Recommend: yes, great Connecticut cigar

I'm sorry, yes. That's kind of an important detail to include in a review. :r

Glad you enjoyed it! That's odd about the crack, could have dried out a bit during shipping? I've smoked through almost a box and no problems yet. Good to know you were able to smoke through it without a prolem though! Thanks for doing a review. Its always good to see what others think. So far they've been accepted VERY well at my events that have had them. It's nice to have a mild, but flavorful cigar for the person that is new to cigars or is just looking for something to enjoy without being too strong.

I was hoping Fadi would bring me one of these yesterday, instead he brought me some O's and a G's. :sad

Nice review and pics.

I enjoy these as a morning smoke - a little too mild for me to enjoy at any other time of the day, but nice and creamy with a cup of coffee while I sit on my patio and watch the sun come up.

Thanks for the review.

I love this smoke for when I'm looking for something not too heavy. I managed to snag a box for below MSRP too.

Very nice review, Eric, and the pics are always a plus!

I have one that Ian gave a while back that has been resting... I think I'll smoke it Friday morning on my day off with my morning coffee! :tu

Smoked a toro and thought it was...meh. Granted, my B&M keeps his humidor WAY too moist. I may grab another one, let it sit, and give it another chance. But based on the one I smoked I prefer that plain old Flor de Oliva Gold. Similar flavor and half the price.
