Anyone else having problems with the new Firefox (not CA related). It seems to be running slower. Just don't like it as much as I did before I did the update. I may go back to using Safari

Nope. The newest version I find to be much faster than the last.

Here's a fix that makes FF about 30 times faster:

1. Type "about : config" (without the spaces) into the address bar and hit return. Scroll
down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time.
When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really
speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests " to some number like 30. This
means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer.
Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0".
This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/8679/ff2xoay0.gif

Yeah; I saw that originally on another board and was skeptical - until I did it. Then I was a believer.

I switched to Chrome when it first came out and haven't looked back. I even went so far as to uninstall FF last week. Chrome is SO much faster for me, although I wish I'd known about Joe's fix before I uninstalled to see if it bumped performance for me.

I've been tempted to try Chrome, but FF works so well for me that it would be pure experimentation...and I'm kinda lazy like that.

thanks for that! good stuff. I love FF, haven't had any problems with it, ever. Now IE on the other hand, TONS of problems.

Actually, wait, no, the only problem I've found is that some plugin ( i think flash) wont install properly.

It makes it usable for me... I have to run it on a portable stick (due to work restrictions) and I had been hating the upgrade.

I heart adblock plus, and my parents are too stubborn to use firefox so I put dd-wrt on my router and had it block the ads.

We need to get Haastility over here from the "other board" so he can make us a Firefox menu!

I'm a dope. I went to implement this improvement and found that I had already done it!

Now that I am think about it I think I saw this tip on a video podcast I watch, Tekzilla. A very informative show.
