Not sure if anyone else has had this problem but some may recall a thread of mine at another forum some of us no longer visit that alluded to "sleep" problems with my MacBook.

For some reason, my MacBook stopped going to sleep if I left it open. I would have to manually put it to sleep or close the lid and then it would sleep.

Well, I went through some numerous steps with Apple and was never able to resolve it. I quickly got use to doing it manually and moved on.

I recently uploaded the new iLife '09 an guess what? My MacBook now sleeps again if I leave the lid open.

I always suspected iMovie '08 as the culprit but was never able to pin it down. I suspected it because the issues arose when I used it to transfer old family VHS/8mm movies to DVD. Seems that by loading the new version, which includes changes to iMovie '08 resolved it.

Thought I would share this if anyone else has experienced this, knows someone who has or in case you do in the future. Good thing is that new laptops will now bring iLife 09 so it should not be an issue.

Viva la Apple!!!

How does Hulu work on your macbook? Ever since I upgraded to the new one with Leopard, Hulu sucks on the macbook. It's not a network issue either, as both of my other computers work fine. Apparently it's a pretty common problem that apple hasn't addressed if you check their forums.

The problem is not between the chair and the computer.
Not in this case.
Mac sleep problems are very well documented as an issue.
Quite a few number of possible fixes and not all work.
I wonder how many of them were actually caused by iLife '08 and they were going nuts trying to fix via updates to Leopard.

Just check out this page for starters.

I'm still using the default settings that came on the macbook...

I am capable to click a link on hulu, so it's not me. Plus, my other laptop, and my desktop that are both windows machines run it perfectly.

Hey, look at all the Carlos in the world.

Amazing how many of us there are.

Bottom line:
Can't cover the sun with a thumb.
It is still there.

Not what Mac lovers want to hear but reality.

On positive note, did get my RAM installed and working fine.
Love it.

Oh, and my iPhone? Pixels missing from the screen, showing up in blue rather than the color of the image? I think I will Google that one next to see how many Carlos there are. The one they replaced it with is charm.

Go figure.
More Carlos in the world with the iPhone pixel problems.
Wow.
I am not the missing link after all.:r

Seems I just happen to be a magnet for anything that can go bad on an Apple device.
I should be their tester.

Well, while we are on the subject of Apple issues, has anyone ever had any problems with their Mighty Mouse?
Darn thing sticks all the time and really ticks me off.
Not to mention it freaking squeaks all the time.
I have the tan and white model.
I think I will try the all white one next.:r:r:r

I know you said iLife '09 seems to have fixed the sleep problems, but out of curiosity, did you add, or more specifically, change the RAM about the same time?

I added iLife '09 about a week earlier than the RAM and noticed the change then, almost immediately after adding the program.
Could have also been an update and never noticed it but I have occasionally tested the sleep and was never OK.
I recall exactly when iMovie got hung up on me a few times early on when I tried to transfer my movies and had to force quit it.
After that, the sleep problems started. Even after re-loading the recover cd, still wouldn't sleep.
I can really say I narrowed it down to iMovie.

Makes sense, I know iMovie is a problem. Just asked because ram that's not seated right causes sleep and wake from sleep problems. Glad things are working as they should now. :tu

Just learned an amazing trick that works so, so, so well.

Anyone with a Black MacBook? I am sure this works well with the white also.
I have tried so, so hard to clean my MacBook and maintain it clean.
The material on the black version is a grease magnet.
Doesn't matter how well you clean your hands before you start, invariably, your keys will look like they came out of the movie Grease and the outside gets tough to clean marks.

Well, I found this article and gave it a whirl.
Works like a charm.
I just made sure I squeezed most of the water out of it to limit moisture and just took a little longer to clean as result.

That Mr. Clean Eraser is pure magic. Make sure you don't use the foaming one.

Give it a shot.

Hmmm... I wonder if deleting iMovie will fix my issue?

If I delete iMovie, I can still play DVDs right?

Yep. You can use the DVD Player app. that comes with OS X or download VLC Media Player (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/) which you should have anyway. :tu
