It seems like every year we're seeing the growing effects of global warming down here in the Deep South...

I know all of the northern BOTL probably get a chuckle out of the pandemonium that ensues any time we get a quarter inch of snow down here. The are church closings, weather men on the TV... I'm sure there will be a run on milk and bread this morning at the grocery stores.

Here's a shot towards the valley behind my house from my back porch this morning.

The white stuff sucks doesn't it! I don't mind the snow as much as I just get chilled to the bone this time of year...have to crank the heat up in my house to about 74 to feel even remotely warm. Outdoor cigar weather is on the way though; we hope. :tu:r

I was in Dallas a few years age when they got a couple inches of snow. Funniest thing I ever saw. :r No concept of braking distances subject to change with snow and ice. :r

The band is moving northwest to southeast. We're at about 3-4 of accumulation at the moment. Dothan may well have light snow right now.

I realize we're not too far south here, but this is still a lot of snow for us....a once a year event if we're lucky. Here's a pic from my porch:

Nice pics guys. It's supposed to hit us here in southern NC by midnight. This will be the third time this year. That's a lot of snow for the south.

Well... we lost power for over 6 HOURS!

You know how cold your house gets w/o heat for 6 hours?! Freaking cold... we even had a fire going, but after the sun went down the temp dropped to under 60* INSIDE!

BRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

About 6-8"+ here in Richmond, been without power since last night around 8, might not get restored for a few days they say. Fortunately that gas log insert we got works well enough to heat most of the house. Came in to work for a bit this morning, will post some pictures later.

Forgot to mention the coolest thing: last night we gathered around the fireplace & cranked up our Red Cross emergency radio, just for kicks. I've never used a shortwave, and we were having a blast picking up stations in Serbia, Radio China International, Tokyo, WRNO, and Radio Havana! That was cool!
