I set up a better system for the countdown stuff I had added to the home page...
There's no a profile field where you can put in your date to return home.
I filled it in for all of you except for bvilchez and snkbyt (I couldn't count that far ahead on the calendar :r )
This date is then used in a new module on the main page:
http://www.cigarasylum.com/

The old countdown is still on the forum page:
http://www.cigarasylum.com/vb/
but I'll take that down once we know that the new method is working.

Obvious benefit of the new way is you can change your own date whenever necessary. (and you could remove it from the front page if you so desired).

Hope that works for all of you! Let me know if it has any problems!

They played that game with us as well. It took forever to get a concrete date. We really didn't get a solid date home till about 30 days out, which is just insane to me. It's a great feeling knowing when you're headed home though.

Well, I made it out of A-stan. I'm in a holding pattern until I can get a flight back to the states. I'm stuck in a Former Soviet Union country that we're not supposed to broadcast our presence in, so I won't.

But it does feel a little weird, like a Soviet base in Tuscon, AZ would.

Good thing we won the Cold War!

Should be back in the states in a few days.

I made it home and to my surprize my wife and kids were here inVA to see me. I didn't they would be here from CA. They got in about an hour before we landed. I have some posts to put up and some people to thank which I will do very soon.
