I didn't realize we didn't have one of these.

Be it baccy or a new pipe, or some other pipe related item, post up what you got. Pictures never hurt either

I just placed a modest order from our friends at Pipesandcigars.com

picked up a half-priced 1lb bag of CAO Sweet Vanilla Honeydew

8oz of Anniversary Kake, 8oz of Butternut Burley, and 1 50g tin of Dan Blue Note

:pi can't wait for it to arrive

I am eyeing a Stanwell right now. My mind is telling me know but my body is telling me yes. UGGGHHHHH, maybe tomorrow I'll make a decision.

oh just get it :p

I'm keeping my eye on the boswell site. I talked to them yesterday, and JM is making some pokers in the near future, and I've asked him to approximate one he made a while back. I hope makes, and I get it in time. I need a good poker shape, for not too much coin. His will cost around 100, which is doable, most artisan type pipes are just a bit too much for me to handle

My new Mastro de Paja billiard. She's a sweet smoker!! I have had a few bowls of Hearth & Home's AJ's VaPer in her so far. She might get dedicated to that blend.

Damn it RX you are not a very good influence on me. Ok I bit the bullet and will pay for it later but here is the little Stannie I bought. It just wouldn't leave me alone, it was haunting my dreams. And I picked up an 8 oz. tin of Pease Piccadilly. I'm planning on picking up a fairly big order of tobacco before SCHIP also.

It's stubby at less than 5 inches long.

I love the 191 shape in the Stanwell line too. It'll probably be my next pipe, somewhere down the line. Either that or a Boswell...or me knowing myself, I'll probably get both...

Cool lookin stubby Nick! Haven't ever seen that one before! Do me a favor and be sure to take some pics that show proportions for me when it comes in!!

As for my purchases as of late I had to cut it off after the large bulk order. I got quite a few pipes in rotation now, and a nice stock of tobacco. Plus I find myself coming to a nice balance with pipes and cigars now that the newness has worn of off the pipe slope! Which is nice, I like haveing the choice and variety! Yardwork and working in the garage tends to lend itself more to smoking a big ol stogie for me..

Nick

I will definitely post some picks of it in my hand. It's a Stanwell Majestic 191. I think I will really like it, I found myself going back to it and day after day a few times a day; it wouldn't leave me alone!!!!!!

Welcome! You picked some VERY good tobaccys for a first timer. While you are judging if it is for you, have patience while you figure out how to light and sip from the pipe.

Even though it is an English, I would recommend starting out trying the Westminster out of those three as FVF is in flake form and the Escudo is in sliced disks, they are a little harder to figure out how to fill the pipe with for someone starting out.

They have that there also. I did not take a sniff of it though. I was getting over loaded as it was. One nice thing about Habana is that there is no short supply of pipe tobacco. I think I will really enjoy it once I get started. I have been scoping out pipes there the last two weeks.

Looks like maybe nickel to me.

I've had PAD kicking in pretty bad lately, so I went and bought another pipe, of course with some tobacco...

This time I picked up a Winslow:
http://www.marscigars.com/ProductImages/winslow200108.jpg

I've always liked the stain he uses and how it brings the grain of the pipes out. Also, I didn't have any Danish pipes...so I threw it in the basket.

The tobaccos I picked up with it, since you can't just get the pipe without some tobacco...of course, was Rattray's Marlin Flake, GL Pease's Union Square and Chelsea Morning. I'm good for the rest of the year. Next pipe order this year is going towards Secret Santa...that's it, I'm done otherwise...

My first pipe landed here yesterday; a Meer by Fikri Baki.

Meer because it's forgiving and I'm new at it, plus little ghosting until the stable fills with alternatives. Watching you all, I know it will... ; ' ) I chose Baki because everyone seems to agree that they're good quality, so I don't expect any behavioral issues.

ST. GOTTHARD (http://bestmeerschaums.homestead.com/bakistgotthard.html)

Also grabbed a tin of McConnell's Scottish Flake (smokes nice), and something the fellow behind the counter liked (ok, Walnut, but its a decent enough blend from what I can tell at this point!).

I just won an auction on a yello-bole myself. Pictures will follow but I'm excited. I just know I won't be allowed to smoke in public when I'm with the finacee. :r

I stopped by Holts again today. The same guy that helped me out on Saturday was there again, very knowledgeable guy. I said I was looking for something a little more flavorful but non-aromatic so he recommened the GL Pease Union Sqaure.

http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii261/8652150149/IMAG0104.jpg

I smoked a bowl of it tonight, pretty good.

I also rolled the dice on an "ebay" pipe (around $8 shipped). It came today and looked even better in person. I spent some time tonight cleaning it up, salt + vodka treatment in the bowl, and used a stem cleaner and briar polish that the guy at Holt's suggested. I think it looks pretty good. It's extremely light, hopefully tomorrow I'll get to see how it smokes.

I just got in the mail this vintage Wally Frank. Now this is what I call A Man's Pipe. The pot shaped bowl on this thing is huge. I can fit my gorilla thumb down inside the bowl, just past the knuckle, and there is even room to wiggle it around in there. For having a rounded bottom this thing sits like a champ, you can even set it down at a 45* angle and it still uprights it's self.

The Sutliff blends is actually blended by Altidas, which would normally make me turn and run, but they are supposed to be matches of classic blends from House of Windsor. I have a tin of Maple Street that I picked up at my local B&M, I don't know how it compares to Mapleton, but it is a good smoke in it's own right.

I have one of the big "blend No. 5". Its a simple straight forward English Oriental that isn't bad at all. I had a pouch of "Great Outdoors" that I smoked a bowl from before gifting it away. All I can remember about that blend was it smelled like Root Beer.

Nice looking pipe Jeff and a great find too. The bowl looks like it can hold a load of your favorite tobaccy. Don't know much about your remodel question as you may want to post that in the "Ask an old fart a question" thread:D

Commander Quan

Mastercraft was the company that at one time owned Dr. Grabow. If that pipe is like the other Grabows the stinger should just pull out, but sometimes those old pipes get very stiff after all the years. If you don't care about the stinger grab it with a pair of pliers and twist while pulling out. If you think you may want to save it wrap it with a old towel or rag before using the pliers.

Not sure what possessed me to get the thin-walled ultra-light old-style Pete army mount barrel, the one with a history of cracking or burning out, but they've always called my name - just never got lined up with the right one at the right price at the right time. Bingo, Ebay! For only a few bucks more than a new, unappealing, discounted non-army version - poof - it's here. Unsmoked and fishtail, not Pfui-Lip, bit; one tiny ounce...

Perfect with MacBarens Navy Flake. I am liking this little guy for sipping a sweet 30-min+ smoke.

So I stopped by a B&M I had heard about and noticed they had a lot of pipes and decided to give one a try.

This was the tobacco that they recommended:
Barrister – We’ve improved the traditional English blend! You’ll still get the natural “woodsy” taste of Latakia, but not its unpopular aroma thanks to just a touch of the perfect aromatic flavoring. This is a perfect fusion blend or the smoker on the fence between aromatic and non-aromatic blends.
