Has anyone tried this yet? Still playing around with it but I like the page or text zoom and "cover flow" page view.

was going to post this up a bit earlier but forgot. I have it and haven't used too much yet, but the top sites and cover flow stuff is pretty cool

Here are a few links about Safari 4

Love the top sites feature... Especially that it comes up when opening a new tab. I can see myself using this regularly. Trying hard to get used to my tabs being at the very top. Maybe I'm wrong in thinking they weren't this way before?

Dowloaded it yesterday and have the same feelings as most about the looks.

It is a memory hog, but I like some of the new features.

Also it is still just a BETA version, Did everyone see the report bug?

@newcigarz: Funny, Tony ... on my Mac it seems to be eating less memory and using less processing power than any prior version of Safari I can remember. AND it's faster.

@bazookajoe: Cool ... I didn't know the zoom feature. That might come in handy. :tu

Yeah, the tabs being up at the top is different - that'll take a little getting used to. It does save a smidgen of space in the browser window though.

Here is a way to turn off some of the new features, including returning the tabs to where they belong

Thanks. Got the tabs back where I like 'em and the blue progress bar back. :tu

Tony,
I feel like the first kid on my block with the new toy thanks to your PM yesterday.
This thing is neat.
I really like it.
Gives Safari an iPod look.
Thing is fast, no doubt.

How does the text zoom work?
Haven't figured that out yet.

Just noticed a button for zoom that can be added to the toolbar. I don't remember seeing it before I changed the toolbar back to the old style. Also, if you switch back to the old toolbar you may want to add the refresh button.

I had no problem finding the text zoom originally. It is that I just don't see how it works once I check it off.
Is there a shortcut key that must be hit to initiate it?

Sorry, misunderstood your question. Once you check "zoom text only" use the zoom in or zoom out commands above it. The shortcut keys are the command (apple) key and the + or - keys. Hope that helps.

Awesome.
Man that works great.
Even old farts like me with crappy reading glasses can see this stuff.
Thanks.

is the autofill stuff under preferences new at all? I have noticed when autofill will work for websites in the past, but never saw a spot to change the settings for it

For those interested in tweaking Safari 4 but don't want to mess with Terminal, here's a simple solution:

http://pointum.com/safari-tweaks.html

If you've already made some changes you can still install this tweak menu and it will reflect the current status of your tweaks.

the view source option is kind of cool. Not sure if it is new or not, but I found a lot of things new to me at least just from messing around w/ safari 4

How do you actually make the changes? I've never used terminal before and it's giving me errors that the commands aren't being found.

Remove the $ at the beginning of the string. Terminal automatically starts with a $.
