Figured since I threw the knives up there it would only be fair to put the flashlights up.

Two old standbys

My Mag and My mini Mag

Then the Streamlight Scorpion (there are 3 of these around the house somewhere)
Tasco LED - not that special but super bright and last for ever
Surefire E2D LED Defender
NiteCore PD EX 10 Piston - Don't let its little size fool you it is blinding
NiteCore PD D20 - Damn close if not brighter to the E2D

No WAY!!!

Is that the assault flashlight I have seen before. Does that one flashlight have a serated, "knife-like" circular blade for its front brim? And its so bright it stuns people?

I held one of those once. Cool flashlight. You switch it on quick, it stuns the "recipient" of the flash and then you stab with the front. Truly an assault flashlight (or defender flashlight). Where did you get it? MEC doesn't carry it I know that for sure.

Also, did you know that MEC carries a few accessories for the mini-mag (the one that has AAs in it, not AAAs in it). It turns it into an LED light, and another allows you to control the intensity of the light and also lets you turn it into a strobe light. Pretty cool.

Cheers

John

Fenix T1. Best light on the market for my needs. Small but brighter and longer lasting than any Surefire. I have it currently attached to my Bushmaster. It is a beauty.

Did you get the LED upgrade for your Mags, or are they still "old school"? I've had a Mag for--hell, I dunno, maybe 12 years, and I've been debating an upgrade.

I'm a huge fan of Princeton Tec Blast flashlights....they are really bright and lightweight. The batteries seem to last awhile too. I also have one of their Pulsars on my keychain.

IMHO, if you use them a lot, it is well worth the money. I have converted three of my Mag D-cells over to TeraLux (http://www.led-replacement.com/tle-6exb.html) led.

Well once being in the hardware business I did get a lot of free toys
The 3000 lumen million candle supper torch form Cabela's fishing is my favorite. This sucker lights the whole neighborhood up with it's search light quality beam that reaches 3/4 mile
2-1 million power west marine handhelds for the boat
The mag lights are
1-5 cell
2- 3 cell
5-aa
1-sure fire
3 husky leds

heres a link to the spot since mine is stored up on the boat

Bumping this thread because I'm in the market for a new flashlight for work. Looking for something with a holder to attach to my belt. Not too big, but bright with a good battery life.

I had the Streamlight Strion, but the batteries are no longer holding a charge. I'm not looking for a rechargeable type again, but open to all suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

How's Fenix for a brand?

Same here. I want one that will penetrate dark wine bottles so I can view the cork. A few collectors use Surefire, but I am sold only on that brand. Nothing too expensive... Any suggestions?

I use a Streamlight MicroStream. Its tiny but will provide plenty of working light. May not be as wide a beam as you need but it would serve as a good back up too. Its bright and it only uses 1 AAA that lasts a long while.

You gents would do well to look at 4 Sevens. Some of the best form factor, efficiency, and cutting edge out there today.
Preon 2.... AA and 120 lumens....in a PENLIGHT sized package.
I have some good links for purchase, but at least one brother on here has one, and he loves it. But he is a flashlight whore. J? Where are ya, bud?

I love my Fenix lights. I turned on my p3d threw it in the washer and then the dryer. When I pulled it out, it was too hot to touch, but it was still on, and it still works to this day.

I have a 4sevens quark light. I forget which one but I never saw the need to buy another flashlight after that. Wait I think it's the AA2.

I am a big flashlight guy including collecting some vintage stuff. Have a nice collection of Vintage Big Beam Lanterns beginning with my Father's original 1956 Big Beam 164 and a 50's vintage 166 in the box. All mine are pre-Teledyne made by U-C in the good ole U.S.A.

I have found that Mag Lite makes about the best for the $, now that is not to say that stuff like the Surfire does not exceed the Mag performance but it is also a huge price difference but sometimes may be warranted with tactical light needs.

All that said there is a very small hands on owner operated company called Malkoff Devices, Ltd. Gene Malkoff is a super guy and produces major league upgrades for many lights that includes some unblievable LED systems for Mag Lite products. Most of the time there is a waiting line for his more popular upgrades but you can get on an email notification list for when they come available. I have his LED Upgrade in a couple of 4-cell Mag Lites and holy cow are they impressive.

Check them out:

A couple of more flashlight ideas:

The best affordable headlight I have ever seen is the Princeton Tec Apex putting out 200 lumens of LED Light with only 4-double A's. Been duck hunting with one for about 5 years now and it is plenty durable and lightweight. LONGGGG Burn Time on batteries even in the super bright mode.
